Well organized and well thought out wall decor can complete a room in the same way that
icing completes the top of a cake. Or it can make a room seem less comfortable and
finished than it could be.
Have you ever walked into a room and just felt, well, kind of jumbled inside? Not that
there was anything wrong with the room, no cobwebs or things creeping on the walls or
floors, but you just did not feel totally calm and settled.
The room was clean and furnished with nice furniture, and the people were your
associates. Nice people. Good people.
Then you looked around at the nicely painted walls and realized what it was. The wall
décor! On the walls hung several pictures, posters, and odds and ends that just didn’t
match the overall feel of the room. One painting a little bit askew, another didn’t match
the overall colors, and in general, they took more away from the room’s ambiance than
they gave to it.
Wall décor is an integral part of your homes décor. Like I said earlier, your wall décor is
like the icing that completes the top of a cake. Just like icing, there are a variety of things
that can be used. Some are dependent on the type of cake, and some simply show your
preference for a certain type of icing.
Yet at the same time, there are certain things you might not use as an icing to your cake.
Not many of us would use peanut butter as icing. Or top it off with plain sour cream. So
why finish your room with wall décor that does not do your room any justice?
Take a look around your room. Look at the color scheme you have chosen. Look at the
style furnishings you have. Then pick the wall décor accordingly. Imagine wall décor as
the finishing touch to your room. A piece of art should compliment the overall style of
your room. A clock or wall grille should be in a basic color that compliments your room’s
decor. Picture frames should match your color scheme.
